Kitchen Quarter — Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Quarter Kitchen LLC ("Kitchen Quarter", "we") collects, uses, shares and deletes consumer health data. It is written for Washington's My Health My Data Act. It is separate from our Privacy Policy and is linked from our homepage. It applies to every user in the United States, whatever state you live in; we follow Washington's rules for everyone. How long we keep data, how we protect it, and the rules for users in the EU and UK are in our Privacy Policy, sections 6 and 6.11.

(a) Allergies, including intolerances, that you choose to save. (b) Medical diets you choose to save, such as Gluten-Free, Lactose-Free or Low-FODMAP. Dairy-Free and Keto also count as medical diets. Vegan, Kosher and Halal diets aren't health data, but they can reveal your beliefs, so we treat them the same way: we save them only with the same consent, and the rights and deletion rules in this policy apply to them too. Vegetarian and Pescatarian are saved as ordinary preferences. We collect this only from you, when you choose to save it. We don't guess or infer health conditions from the recipes you view or search. Filters you use without saving are used only to run that search; they aren't saved, logged or put in the page address.

Only to filter and flag recipes for you. We don't use health data for advertising, profiling or anything else, and we never sell it.

We ask for your consent with a separate, unticked box the first time you save allergies or diets. If you don't agree, you can still use the filters for that visit, but nothing is saved. You can withdraw consent any time in Settings → Health data; we then delete the saved data. Consent to collect is separate from any other agreement: it is never part of the Terms of Service, never pre-ticked, and the Service works without it. We don't share health data with anyone except the service providers in section 5. If we ever wanted to share it, we would ask for a separate consent first.

Only the two service providers that run the Service for us, each under a contract that limits it to processing on our instructions: Supabase, which stores it, and Vercel, our hosting provider. When you save health data, it passes through Vercel's servers on its way to Supabase; Vercel passes it along without storing it, and we keep it out of logs. We do not share health data with Stripe, Sentry, analytics providers or advertisers, and we keep it out of server logs, page addresses and error reports. We will never sell health data. If that ever changed, we would first need your separate, signed authorization, and you could refuse it without losing any part of the Service. We don't use location data or geofencing.

You can ask us to: confirm whether we hold your health data; give you a copy, with a list of everyone we have shared it with; delete it; or withdraw your consent. Use Settings → Health data, or email support@kitchenquarter.app. We respond within 45 days; if we need longer (up to 45 more days), we'll tell you why. Requests are free. These rights apply to every user in the United States, not only residents of states whose laws require them. We keep a record of your consent and of each request.

If we turn down your request, you can appeal by emailing support@kitchenquarter.app with "Appeal" in the subject. We'll answer within 45 days and explain our decision.
